It's been a bit more than a year since I left the wonderful folks at MEL Science. Since then I got my shit together and started working on a bunch of projects1.
Doing so I met a new enemy: silence.
When you are trying to build something new, or get along with new people, or just generally reach for the stars, you have to reach out to people, asking them for things. Some of them are strangers, and some of them are people you knew for years. Some of them (a surprising amount!) will never reply.
I discovered that the silence just corrodes my inner peace.
Rejection or denial is straightforwardly bitter: you have closure. Silence is pernicious: it doesn't end, a malignant knot of doubts and empty hopes on the back of your mind. It's really, really shit! If you feel that way, drop me a message! I promise to answer, and if I don't, that's me having problems, not you or your message being oversharing, weird, or uncalled for.
It's not you, and also we should have a pint or a coffee when you're in London.
Got you! Not an actual link because it doesn't have a real name or domain yet.
